This has been so successful that the same model is being used for the Eden Isle development. About half of Eden Isle is given over to the green area called the Caye Caulker Nature Reserve. A single building is allowed on each lot. Seven docks are scattered over 2100 feet of shoreline. No seawalls. A mix of natural vegetation is left around most houses. No hunting or harassment of the wildlife is allowed. All of the Red Mangrove trees along the shoreline are protected. They did much to save the island during Hurricane Keith in October 2000. We are going to need them again. |
